2022
Staff Violation
In 2022, we faced a significant challenge when an employee violated our trust and policies.
Our staff suspected inappropriate behaviour between an employee and a student, which was proven by security footage that showed the employee allowing a teenager to use his vape pen. Despite our stringent hiring process, this person proved unsuitable for their position. We promptly terminated the employee, reported the incident to authorities, and requested criminal charges to prevent working with children.
Our dedication to student safety trumped any concerns about possible negative publicity.
2018
Horse Trough/Zip Tie Incident
A 2018 incident during an equine therapy session challenged our policies and led to significant changes.
When dealing to a disruptive student who hurt a staff member, an equine expert contractor went above our guidelines. The contractor's unauthorised acts, such as physical restraint and inappropriate use of equipment, were in violation of our policies. We quickly selfreported the incident to authorities, suspended those implicated, and fully cooperated with the subsequent inquiry. Although no criminal charges were made, we leveraged this extremely disturbing event to spur growth.
This incidence spurred us to adopt additional protections, which resulted in no further instances of such behaviour.
